For our 500th post, I thought I would publish my recipe for the worlds greatest blended margarita. Enjoy!
Mix the following in the blender:
- 3/4 cup of good tequila. Something that’s made from 100% blue agave.
- 1/2 cup of Grand Marnier. Expensive, but so worth it.
- 1/4 cup of Mexican beer. Weird, yes, but it’s a flavor element you don’t notice when it’s there and miss when it’s gone.
- 1 can of frozen lemonade
- Juice of one lemon
- Juice of one lime
- Ice to fill the blender
- Sugar to taste
Serve in a chilled, salt lined margarita glass. I run a piece of lime around the rim of the glass before dipping it in the salt, but you can use whatever you want. The resulting drink is really fresh and citrusy and surprisingly mild. It’s a drink you can have a few of on a hot day and not worry about it too much. If you want it to have more of a kick, double the tequila.
The down side of this recipe is it is very acidic, which means you might need a few antacids after drinking one. I’ve tinkered with the recipe to remove some the acid, but everyone keeps telling me to go back to the original because the sour stomach is worth it. π
