A Lack of Posts isn’t Normal

Yikes, it was nearly three weeks ago no I proclaimed that things were “back to normal” and that you could expect regular updates. I guess I was wrong. 🙂 Sorry about that.

Life has been moving along fairly quietly over the past few weeks. We’re slowly but surely getting settled into the new house, although we still have a long way to go. Raelene scored a really nice hanging pot rack that I hope to get installed this Friday, along with the spice racks. My father is making me some bookcases for the living room, but until I’m able to get them transported north most of my books and other game stuff are going into storage. sniff.

Corinne is getting more and more verbal, letting us know exactly what she wants and when. Last Saturday I nearly feel out of my chair laughing when she went to a kitchen cabinet, opened the door, and pulled out a stuffed animal, all the while acting like of course this is where her stuffed tiger belonged. When she was done playing with it, the tiger went back into the same cabinet. Cute. Raelene found a baby doll stroller for her on Freecycle, and she is have a lot of fun playing with it. When we take Andre for a walk, she pushes her stroller with a doll in it, stopping occasionally to bend over and talk to or adjust the doll to make sure she’s  okay. Super cute.

I splurged on a new child carrier backpack for myself and a MacBook for Raelene. Raelene has been using ancient, hand-me-down computers for years now, and it was time she had something nice. It’s a really nice piece of equipment, especially with the new touch sensitive magic mouse. I have to admit I’m a tiny bit jealous. 🙂 The backpack splurge was because I’ve been taking Corinne on walks with an inexpensive hand-me-down carrier, and the shoulder straps are starting to rip. She absolutely loves our walks in the carrier, so I decided to go ahead and get a nice one that should last until she’s too heavy for it as well as through another kid.

We’ve had a couple of outings, including going to Santa Cruz to see my sister and attend a potluck, and visiting with an old friend from San Diego and meeting his family for the first time. For Thanksgiving we are spending the day with Raelene’s brother, and celebrating with his new wife and in-laws. I’m really looking forward to it. In addition to the mountains of food his family is preparing, Raelene is bringing a vegan pumpkin cheesecake and a vegan apple pie. Yum!

Well, I guess that’s good for now. I wont say that we’re back to normal just yet, I will wait until we are until I proclaim “mission accomplished.” 🙂
