15 Months

Corinne is 15 months old today, so I thought I would give everyone a quick update on her development. Feel free to post any questions you have in the comments.

Corinne is running quite well these days, and with arms up and legs sort of flopping forward she’s cute as heck when she does.

This past month has also seen an explosion in her words and signs. She says please and sometimes thank you, she can ask for more or let you know she is all done. She asks to be picked up (although not well) and will tell you when she wants down. She will tell you when she’s hungry or thirsty. She can name all sorts of things, from shoes to hats to Mommy to Daddy. She will look at you with a smile on her face and say, “hi.” We’re definitely still in the her parents are the only people who understand her phase, but there is a deliberateness and consistency that is amazing and she often accompanies what she says with her signs. I’m sure better enunciation is just around the corner.

She loves the water and bath time. I usually let her play in the tub until she says and signs “all done.”

She loves riding her ladybug around the house, especially up and down our long hallway. She’s also starting to squeal like a dolphin impersonating a teakettle again, especially in the hallway where the acoustics are better. Luckily Raelene is doing a good job of discouraging the squealing.

She’s starting to get the hang of her shape sorting toy, and can most of the time get the shapes through the correct holes.

She eats anything we put in front of her, and especially loves tofu and beans. Last night she was eating baked kale with glee. Crunchy!

She’s less interested in sitting on her potty now that she can stand up from it, but Raelene is working with her on it. The key seems to be reading stories while sitting.

She loves books, hats, and balloons. In fact she is positively obsessed with hats, which I guess is not surprising although it is.

She still sleeps like a newborn at night and fights most naps, which is brutal on pretty much all aspects of Raelene and my life. We will get through it, she will sleep better eventually. But getting woken up every hour or so for 15 months, and not getting more than a handful of hours of sleep in any given 24 hour period, all without a break, is rough.

Sleep aside, Corinne is an amazingly and happy little toddler. She loves smiling at people. She loves to play. She loves roaming around the house hiding things. She giggles, claps, and waves. She says “yes” to just about everything, and so far doesn’t even know the word “no.” Mommy and Daddy love you baby girl.
